Google released
an update for its Gmail app for Android yesterday. The
new update will make your life much easier as notable changes are applied. Now
you can feel a different experience in replying emails, opening archive, and
finding the older messages. A new
feature lets you reply right from the notifications. This
new update will satisfy many users since many of us were expecting more from
the Gmail app for Android. Archiving
messages also becomes much easier with one tap only.
New functionality in Gmail app for Android
The new
functionality will give more powerful effect to the user when combined with
other features such as messages customizing. At least that is what stated by
Andy Huang, the Google software engineer. Maybe
not all users will be interested in this feature, but those who use email to
communicate intensely would. Say
you have a business colleague that you contact each day by mail. You can set a
ringtone specifically for him or her. Guess
what, the app would ring the ringtone for every email coming from him / her.
This feature is
not something new though, as most Android Smartphones also have this kind of
functionality hidden in the "contact" section. However
this capability might be useful for you since you know what action to take
after hearing certain ringtones. For
example, the Gmail app for Android sounds a ringtone set for your secret admire
or spam contacts, then you can choose to just ignore it. Conversely,
when you set a ringtone for an important contact, you will soon realize an
incoming mail from the contact and reply as you see it.
There
are still some changes in the newer version of Gmail app for Android, like
better search and improved search suggestions. You
can take advantage of all these through android 4.0 ICS or above. If
you are still loyal to the older versions of Android like 2.2 Froyo, you can be
happy now as the update embraces older Android as well though the improvement
levels can’t be determined now. To
get it installed on your Smartphone, just go to the Google Play Store and get a
copy of it. Just
as a reminder, this new update arrived just a week after Google overhauled its
Gmail mobile Web app.
